Admiral Pierre-François Forissier joins France's prestigious Naval Academy.

Our congratulations to Admiral Pierre-François Forissier who has just been elected as a member of France's Naval Academy.

We are very proud and honoured to count him as a member of our Board of Directors on which he actively serves as a very valuable contributor to our Group.

With an engineering degree specialised in nuclear science from the Ecole Supérieure de Guerre Navale, a former auditor for IHEDN, a Grand officier de la Légion d’honneur and a graduate of the École Navale, he has spent most of its career in the submarine forces including as a commander of the SNA Rubis and the SNLE Le Tonnant. He also served as a surface officer in the minesweepers division and on the carrier Foch.

He was promoted to Admiral in 2001, and then served as deputy territorial admiral commander of the Atlantic maritime region, admiral in command of France's submarine forces and the Force Océanique Stratégique, major general of the navy, then Chief of the Staff of the French Navy. Admiral in the 2nd Division, he served in this latter capacity from 2008 to 2011.

Based in Paris, and operating under the auspices of the French Ministry of Defence, the mission of the Marine Academy is to promote the development of studies on maritime issues. The Academy is divided into six sections each with thirteen full members. It has expanded its recruitment which is now no longer limited exclusively to members of the Navy in active service.

The Academy includes 72 academic scholars covering six major fields, all coming with different backgrounds including of course the navy but also engineers, philosophers, writers, etc.
